Micromosaic Caterpillar Brass Brooch
The subject of the brooch is the stylization of an imaginary creature that unites the cat and the caterpillar. The name of the creation is "brucatto". The brooch is made entirely by hand using galvanized metal palladium nickel free and filled by the Roman technique of micromosaic yarn. This technique consists in heating and modifying the shape of the glass material in order to obtain rods that are cut and inserted into the bezel. The range of colors used are: gray, dark gray, black, light blue and white.
This piece is made using the micromosaics: an handmade ancient technique that uses small pieces of glass to create small figurative images. This art form is typical of Italy and derives from the ancient Roman Empire.
